27 Apr 2008 - Bishop at 150th anniversary of Pennington Church

Representatives from all the sections of the group were on hand to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the building of the current parish church of Pennington.

The first Pennington church was built on the site in 1839 but was too small so 20 years later it was demolished and replaced with the current church. This is built of brick in the early decorated style and rarely has it sparkled as it did today.

A team of people had cleaned the church from top to toe which is no mean feat as the ceiling is very high. The flowers looked delightful and the church was full to capacity.

The section flags formed a procession with Mason carrying the Beaver flag, Michael the cub flag, Jason the Scout one and Peter the explorer flag. Thank you very much to all who attended and thank you to the Chuch committee for the drinks and the cake which tasted as good as it looked.
